“We’re out of time,” Mario sighed, sweat pooling in the ridges of his overworked forehead. “You file for the company tomorrow. You have to know these things.”

“Mario, I’m ready,” Harvey answered. “I’ve been ready.”

It was true. Harvey really did think he was prepared, but that was precisely the problem. He’d been trapped in this particular room with this particular person for weeks, any kind of break few and far between. And for what? The disorienting haze of never knowing where he was? Forgetting his name for exorbitant spans of time? The general feeling of being unwell?

“Your training isn’t just about Tetra, Jarvis. It’s about reacting to situations in ways outside of who you are, not who you were,” Mario explained. “Right now, you’re still Harvey.”

Toxic exhaustion had long ago curbed Harvey’s natural curiosity. Instead it left him feeling voided and apathetic. 

“If you’re going to go through with this,” Mario continued, “you need to fully invest. You need to become Jarvis entirely.”
